Though the first 30 or so miles are relatively hilly, this is a fairly flat 200k. The route starts in St. Louis Park and travels to Eden Prairie where we pick up the Minnesota Bluffs Scenic Trail (new this year). This trail takes riders all the way to Chaska through woods and lakes, with views of the Minnesota River. From Chaska, riders take county roads following the Minnesota River to Henderson, the first control, at 46 miles. Outside Henderson is the only long climb of the ride, out of the Minnesota River Valley to Green Isle, an old Irish settlement dating to the 1800s. Also new this year is the removal of the old info control, to be replaced by a full-fledged control at Bongard’s Creamery (which has very good sandwiches as well). From Bongard’s, riders head north near Waconia, through Watertown to Delano, the penultimate control. Also new this year, riders will take the Luce Line Trail from south of Delano to near Wayzata where they pick up the Dakota Rail Trail and well-known roads back to St Louis Park.
