Night Riding Equipment Criteria

Now that we are starting on the longer brevets, this is a good time to review your lighting and reflective gear.

Last year on the AV 400k I saw many riders with very ineffective taillights. I have a report from a rider on this year’s 400k last weekend that indicates there is still improvement to be made.

Please take a few minutes to review the following night riding criteria and take a good look at your equipment. Your safety is #1 on all our rides. If you need to upgrade your lights or reflective gear, now is the time to do this. (more…)

Apple Valley 200/300/400k Ride Report May 14th

Rain, rain, rain! The 22 riders that set out from Apple Valley on Saturday morning certainly had their share of wet weather for the 200k, 300k and 400k routes. Apparently there is a renewed interest in fenders after this one. Congratulations to the finishers for another character building ride.

Rochester 200/300k May 7th Ride Report

Spring weather has finally arrived! After a very brief sprinkle of rain at the start, the weather improved all day for the 19 riders that rode the 200k and 300k routes in Rochester on Saturday. A modest headwind out to Rushford and on the leg from Harmony back to Rushford for the 300k riders, turned into a pleasant push for most of the last 60 miles. Temps reached the low 70s, with enough sunshine to create a few red noses and arms. Everyone finished – a great day!
