Congratulations to the riders on the Apple Valley 600k Fall Classic September 10-11.  The weather was mostly great, but got pretty warm in the middle of the day, and a brisk west wind kept the returning rider’s heads down on Sunday.

Congratulations to the riders who completed brevets this past weekend in Rochester. The following riders completed their 2011 Super Randonneur qualifications, making them eligible for PBP or other grande randonnee events.

Randonneur Midnight in Eyota

Great weather, great rides! 25 riders started out Saturday morning, 19 on the 600k, four for the 400k and one rider each on the 300k and 200k. 24 riders successfully completed their brevets, the only rider not to finish still rode 200 miles, for a grand total of 8,700 miles logged for the group.

Here are thoughts about bag drops and PBP.

Most people have a bag drop at Loudeac on PBP.  This control works very nicely because it’s separates the event into thirds.  Meaning you get there about every 400 km. 

There is also an option to have a bag at the 200 km mark, which puts you back there after 1000 km on PBP. Having 2 bag drops could be useful, I have never used this bag drop so can not speak much about it.  (more…)
